I love tarot. Some of my most cherished early memories were of my Grammy sitting across from me - her sacred cloth on the table and her focused, channeling hands spreading cards. The sense of wonder and the thrill of dancing with fate fills me as much now as it ever has. Tarot is in many ways, a way of giving ourselves permission to live our favorite lives.
Today, I sat down in my Grammy’s prohibition chair (yes, complete with a hidden compartment for storing booze) and I asked this question:
What is my financial gift and purpose in this world?
I pulled The Moon, The Tower, and The 10 of Pentacles. I immediately felt seen, cherished, and more committed to my work. Let’s explore:
The Moon
We are dynamic beings! We have aspects of self that are unconscious, hidden, and are often the greatest keys to our most healthy, wealthy lives. People who are able to integrate their shadows, illuminated by the moon, lower their cortisol levels, relax their stress or traumatic responses, and experience more whole self-love and self-worth.
Integrated people experience more success - whatever it means to them.
When we love our cringy, icky, “immoral” parts of self, there’s nothing in the world that can keep us from our purpose. Many studies have indicated that the most effective determining factors in living a successful life are emotional intelligence and a flexible nervous system.
They got there by integrating their shadows.
I feel the sacred honor of exposing previously unseen aspects of self so we can offer them on our altars of truth and love. I see people. I always have. I sense their energy, I relate to who they are in the moment, I practice non-judgment, and we find those uncomfortable parts of us with the soft, loving illumination of The Moon. This does not make me a lot of friends because some people don’t want to be seen - but it brings me an abundance of the right friends.
The Tower
Most people freak out at that card - understandably. I recently pulled it the day I was traveling across the country, but I knew it wasn’t about the flight - it was about a deep opportunity for personal growth, so I took it and I’m so glad I let that Tower fall!
A wise person once told me that The Tower is more like a renovation than destruction. It really stuck with me. It’s uncomfortable. There’s constant internal fussing as things are being torn down and rebuilt. Until we become effective project managers and learn to surrender and enjoy the process, The Tower is no fun.
But that’s where I excel. Maybe I’m a masochist, maybe it’s all those years of being disabled, maybe it’s my penchant for turning things on their heads - the result is the same: I embrace the suck. I love the cringe. I love the moment when my discomfort becomes ecstatic - NOTHING IS MORE FREEING. And I LOVE feeling free.
I make alchemical change fun, silly, easier to swallow, quick and full of reverence - like if Patch Adams and a Chaplain had a baby, but with the precision of a surgeon (Did anyone else just get a really weird idea for a Halloween costume?)
I know a part of who you thought you were is dying. I have reverence for that passing. And I know that what’s next for you is gonna make you feel more powerful, loving, and true to yourself when you’re ready. There’s no reason why we can’t enjoy the process together while my precision and skill holds us true to our path.
The Tower is the spark that begins a necessary composting process that, once begun, has no deadlines. What I do know is that the process can go faster with ritual, community, or ceremony, and a battle-tested, skillful healing hand. Working with a precise process and a non-judgmental guide frees us up to live our favorite lives sooner and experience a fuller expression of life and love.
We are not alone when The Tower falls. Look for your helpers. They’re ready for you. You do not need to wait to live your full life. You can start today.
The 10 of Pentacles
Who doesn’t love this card?! Prosperity, abundance, community, physical health, - wealth in all forms. The 10 of pentacles is a healthy internal and external flow of resources and love - in and out and back in again - regenerative wealth. It’s a card of effort and chance married in perfect union.
Many people believe this to be a card of balance, but not in equal form - it is balance and flow according to what is needed where. Sometimes it’s a card of giving more than receiving. Sometimes it’s about receiving more than giving. We all experience phases of needing each and when we dance with that movement, we build regenerative wealth, health, and wellness over time - and sometimes that time is surprisingly short!
This is what I know is ready for my clients on the other side of the discomfort of The Tower renovation process. I have seen consistent results: increased satisfaction with life, joy in relationships, more wealth and communal connection. The proof is in their bank accounts - actual numbers reflecting their permanent changes.
There’s no going back, only fractally forward, amassing more wealth, intimacy, and power as we grow. Its Mercury in Virgo energy. Exploring, communicative, and yet structured and grounded in health, wealth, and prosperity. Precise, loving, and expansive.
